We visited Ruben, 9, in his house in El Naranjal where GB had a medical brigade. Ruben lives with his mother and his two siblings. His father isn’t currently living with his mother, but he tries to support them economically because his mom doesn´t work. He goes to school nearby his house. Ruben is in fourth grade and is a straight-A student.

Next Steps

His mom took him to the medical brigade because of his back deformity. He was born this way, and because of the lack of economical resources, he hasn´t been able to go to a doctor or get x-rays. Ruben has a medical condition called congenital scoliosis and needs further examination by an orthopedic surgeon who will decide what type of treatment he needs.

Call to Action

Ruben is a small kid, but conscious of his deformity, especially because kids at school bully him, making him feel self-conscious about his condition. Let’s help him improve his medical condition by fundraising $400 together!
