Background

AGE: 18
COMMUNITY: Santa Rosa
DIAGNOSTIC: Club Foot / Congenital Equinovarus

Edgar, 18, lives in small house with his mother, father and siblings in Santa Rosa. They all help around with house chores. His dad and older brothers are the ones who work on agriculture and support the rest of the family with food and basic needs. Edgar tries to help as much as he can but because of his medical condition there are certain activities that he is not able to partake in. Edgar was born with this condition, and because his parents don´t have the money, he didn´t receive treatment at an early age. People in the community know him and say he is shy but kind, and whenever they see him walking on the street, they try to help him, because he mainly walks with his knees.

Next Steps

Edgar went to the medical brigade wanting a checkup, some vitamins, and painkillers, but the doctors who saw him decided to evaluate his case a little bit more. They asked for more information about his medical history and determined to refer him to the public hospital and Global Brigades’ referral program.

Call to Action

We want to help Edgar walk normally and to help him do the many things he wants to do, especially to help his dad and brother work on agriculture. To accomplish this goal, we are seeking $1,000 in donations.
