Juan Carlos is a 15-year-old residing in Chandala, a rural community located 1 1/2 hours from the capital. He shares his home with his father, who works in agriculture, and his two siblings. His father’s daily wage is Lps 150 (~6 USD) when there is work available. Two years ago, Juan Carlos began experiencing discomfort in his private area and was subsequently diagnosed with the enlargement of one testicle at his community’s health center. Failure to receive corrective surgery for this condition may result in a negative impact on his fertility in the future.
